Daredevil’s Avengers 5 & 6 Return Gets an Answer From Charlie Cox
Charlie Cox has addressed growing speculation about Daredevil’s future in the MCU. As buzz builds around Avengers: Doomsday, the actor finally set the record straight on whether fans should expect his return.
Charlie Cox is waiting for an Avengers call up
Charlie Cox recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he was asked directly about his involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday. When it came to Spider-Man, Cox totally denied his return after No Way Home.
The conversation then shifted to Marvel’s next big crossover this year. But even then, Cox admitted that he has no confirmed role in Avengers: Doomsday. When asked by Kimmel, he said, “I don’t think so. No… as far as I know, I’m not in the Avengers,” he said.
Still, he seemingly left the door slightly open, noting the film hadn’t started shooting yet and adding, “I sit by the phone waiting with bated breath.”
Notably, the filming for Doomsday started last year, and reshoots are happening this year, as per reports. But what Cox could be waiting for is a call-up to Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to film this year.
Fan reactions to Cox’s comments are all over the place. Some believe he’s simply keeping secrets, comparing it to Andrew Garfield denying his role before No Way Home. Others are taking his words at face value, though many still expect Daredevil to show up eventually in one of the Avengers movies.
As far as MCU films are concerned, Cox only appeared as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, marking his official entry into the MCU after the Netflix series. Then, he made a switch to TV with She-Hulk and Daredevil: Born Again.
His return, along with characters like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, has kept fans hopeful about more crossovers in the MCU. In addition, Bernthal has already been confirmed for Spider-Man 4, so fans are hoping that Cox is in it too.
As for Avengers: Doomsday, it is expected to be one of Marvel’s biggest ensemble projects ever. Confirmed names include the likes of Robert Downey Jr, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, and more. Whether Cox joins them in reshoots remains to be seen.
