Elijah Wood says he has finally started reading the Lord of the Rings books

Elijah Wood, who is perhaps best known for her role as Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings franchise, did not actually read the books for years. The actor revealed this when Stephen Colbert asked him on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert about the “rumor” during his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

“Okay. Um, now I got…I got this other rumor I need to get into you,” Colbert began. “Um, is it true that you still haven’t finished reading The Lord of the Rings?”

Acknowledging that Colbert was a big fan of the series, Wood said, “I feel almost the most embarrassed, Stephen, because I know no one else in my life who loves Tolkien more than you and has read the books more than maybe anyone.”

He continued, “So 25 years later, actually 27 if you consider we started shooting in August or October of ’99.” But he added a positive update. “I have, I’ll at least say this, there is an update. I have started them.” He added, “And they’re incredible.”

After responding with a “thank you,” Colbert joked, “Listen, I don’t want to tell you how it ends,…but I’ll give you a hint. You know how it ends.”

Decades later, The Lord of the Rings series remains one of the most influential fantasy series and continues to capture the imagination of fans worldwide.
