According to the official synopsis, “Ten-year-old Aurora has an intriguing neighbor (Mads Mikkelsen) who kills real-life monsters — a hit man for hire. When Aurora needs help killing the monster she believes ate her family, she procures his services. Suspecting that her parents may have fallen victim to hit men gunning for him, Aurora’s neighbor guiltily takes the job.” Furthermore, it reads, “To protect Aurora, he’ll need to contend with an onslaught of assassins, a mysterious associate with killer heels (Sigourney Weaver), and accept that some monsters are real in this fantastical and wickedly inventive feature directorial debut from visionary creator Bryan Fuller.”
The supporting cast includes Sigourney Weaver as Laverne, the hitman’s handler, alongside David Dastmalchian, Sheila Atim, Rebecca Henderson, and Caspar Phillipson. Fuller wrote and directed the movie, making it his feature-film directorial debut.
For fans of Fuller and Mikkelsen’s previous collaboration, Dust Bunny offers the closest thing to a Hannibal reunion audiences have seen since the series ended. Fuller created the acclaimed NBC series Hannibal, which featured Mikkelsen as the iconic cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter alongside Hugh Dancy as FBI profiler Will Graham.
With its 4K UHD release date set for April 28, Dust Bunny now has the opportunity to find the audience it missed in theaters.
