Brad Pitt’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth Gets Netflix Release Month
New details about one of Netflix’s upcoming high-profile releases have been revealed. The release window for Brad Pitt’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a sequel tied to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has surfaced as part of the streaming platform’s 2026 film slate.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth debuts on Netflix in August
Netflix will debut The Adventures of Cliff Booth in August 2026, according to Deadline.
The film serves as a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and follows Brad Pitt’s character, Cliff Booth. David Fincher directs the project, while Quentin Tarantino wrote the script. The cast includes Timothy Olyphant, Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Carla Gugino.
Netflix includes the film in its 2026 slate alongside Greta Gerwig’s Narnia adaptation. That film will receive a limited IMAX release starting November 26 in 90 countries. The streaming platform has not announced a confirmed wide theatrical rollout for The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
At the Next on Netflix event, Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said, “There is Warner Bros theatrical distribution, and then there’s Netflix, which we’ve been in a different business. I don’t want you to conflate the two.” The comments followed a discussion about Netflix’s theatrical strategy after its pursuit of Warner Bros.
Netflix Film Chairman Dan Lin stated, “We are a streaming-first company. The strategy works really well for us,” and added, “We’re looking to do special things in theatrical, but just give us some time.” He continued, “The Warner Bros deal just ended as far as our participations, and we had the Academy Awards.”
The film was reportedly developed after Netflix acquired Tarantino’s script early last year, with Fincher attached to direct and Pitt reprising his role. Filming is said to have taken place from July 2025 to January 2026, and Tarantino indicated the production budget is around $200 million.
Netflix executives also referenced prior theatrical experiments, including event screenings for Stranger Things and One Piece. They also highlighted KPop Demon Hunters Singalong as part of ongoing discussions about theatrical engagement.
