Lilo & Stitch 2 Release Date Set for Disney Live-Action Sequel Movie

Lilo & Stitch 2 has been given a release date.

Walt Disney Studios released the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie in United States theaters last summer. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the movie is a remake of the animated Disney flick that was released in 2022. A sequel to the live-action film was announced to be in development in June 2025.

What is Lilo & Stitch 2’s release date?

Disney has now dated the live-action Lilo & Stitch 2 movie for May 26, 2028.

This means that it will be released almost exactly three years after the first live-action movie, as that hit theaters on May 23, 2025. It went on to be a massive hit for the studio, raking in over a billion dollars worldwide.

Plot details for Lilo & Stitch 2 remain under wraps at this time. There were sequels to the original animated movie, such as 2005’s Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch. There was also 2003’s Stitch! The Movie, which served as a backdoor pilot episode of a TV show, Lilo & Stitch: The Series, that then concluded with 2006’s Leroy & Stitch. Whether or not the live-action sequel will incorporate any of the ideas from those animated titles, however, remains to be seen.

No other movies are currently scheduled to be released on May 26, 2028, though that will likely change as the date draws closer. It is known, though, that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz’s The Mummy 4 will be released just one week before Lilo & Stitch 2, as that is currently scheduled to arrive on May 19, 2028.

Disney Entertainment’s Alan Bergman said when Lilo & Stitch 2 was announced, “The love that people have for Lilo & Stitch continues to grow, and the goal with this new retelling was for audiences to be able to enjoy these characters on the big screen again and hopefully have just as much fun watching it as we had making it.”

Lilo & Stitch is currently available to stream on Disney+.
