Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Gets First Look in Spider-Man: Brand New Day Battle Clips

New clips from the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day have finally been released, giving audiences the first look at the collision course between two of New York’s protectors. Two separate clips show Jon Bernthal’s return as Punisher, featuring the character’s ruthless methods as he confronts Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. These previews come just ahead of the movie’s official trailer debut.

Two Spider-Man vs. Punisher clips shown ahead of Brand New Day trailer

The recently released Brand New Day clip places The Punisher firmly in Spider-Man’s way. In one sequence, shared by @onyourm__ark, Frank Castle utilizes his signature Battle Van to first crash into Spider-Man and then, without stopping, literally carry the webslinger on his hood.

Furthermore, the clip shows the anti-hero without his signature beard, though he still wears the rugged look that fans have grown to love. Another one, shared by @spider_verse.id, shows what appears like a Gatling gun firing at Spider-Man as he swings across buildings. It doesn’t show if Punisher is wielding it, but it seemingly matches his heavily armored van.

Moreover, Brand New Day clips follow Bernthal’s official MCU return in Daredevil: Born Again, though his appearances in that series have now ended. Now, Jon Bernthal is set to appear in both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and a separate Punisher-focused special presentation.

Last year, Bernthal shared insights into how the team ensured the character felt authentic across both projects. “Around that same time, there will also be this Punisher special that’s coming out, that I think will be as high-octane Punisher as you’ve ever seen,” stated the actor. “I think what was really important to me and to Destin and to Tom is that we believed that The Punisher could walk off of the Spider-Man set and could walk onto the special set, and I do believe that we achieved that,” he added (via ScreenRant).

The story for Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place four years after audiences last saw Peter Parker. While Parker himself has seemingly disappeared, Spider-Man continues operating at peak efficiency, protecting New York City. His routine patrol changes when a series of unusual crimes draws him into something far more complex than standard street-level threats.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31.
