In a social media post, Zimmer stated, “I’m proud to share with you our new Fremen chant featured in DUNE: PART THREE – developed in collaboration with Denis and performed by my dear friend @tchalamet.” This directly identifies Chalamet as the voice behind the chant.
Zimmer also described the project as an ongoing collaboration with director Denis Villeneuve. He wrote, “DUNE remains my dream collaboration, partnering with the legendary director Denis Villeneuve to realize his vision through sounds.” The chant was created as part of the film’s evolving soundscape and reflects their continued creative partnership.
The announcement aligns with broader details about Dune 3, which continues Villeneuve’s adaptation inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah. The film introduces a time jump and depicts a larger-scale conflict, with the trailer showcasing intensified chanting elements in Zimmer’s score. Reports note that the sound design features “more frenzied, feverish” tones compared to earlier installments.
Villeneuve has described the upcoming film as tonally distinct from its predecessors. He stated, “If the first movie was contemplation, a boy exploring a new world, and the second one is a war movie, this one is a thriller. It is action-packed and tense. More muscular” (via The Hollywood Reporter).
