The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Video Teases Crossovers With Other Beloved Nintendo Titles
A new video for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie teases some crossovers with other Nintendo titles.
Universal Pictures and Illumination’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be released in United States theaters next month. A sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the new film is based on the 2007 video game and its 2010 sequel. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic direct the movie, while Chris Pratt reprises his vocal role as Mario.
What do we see in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie video?
The new video, shared on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Twitter page, highlights the colorful characters who will seemingly be appearing in the movie. Spotted in the video are Nintendo icons that don’t originate from Mario games, such as R.O.B. and three Pikmin.

It was previously known that R.O.B., who is being voiced by Ed Skudder, would appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, as the character was already featured in a previous trailer. His inclusion here, though, has fans wondering just how large a role the robot — who has been in games such as Gyromite, Super Mash Bros., and more — will have in the film.
The inclusion of the Pikmin comes as a bigger surprise, as it wasn’t known that they would be appearing in the movie until now. There have been four main Pikmin games that have been released by Nintendo over the past three decades, along with two spin-offs, though they’ve also appeared in a number of other titles. Similar to R.O.B., it’s unclear how large a part they’ll have in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie at this time.
In addition to Pratt and Skudder, the voice cast of the movie includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Donald Glover as Yoshi, Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina, and more.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives on April 1, 2026.
