Bridesmaids 2 Gets Interesting Update Following 2026 Oscars Reunion

Following the Bridesmaids cast’s hilarious reunion at the recent Academy Awards, director Paul Feig was asked about the possibility of making Bridesmaids 2. This comes fifteen years after the popular ensemble comedy movie was first released in theaters, where it became an instant box office hit.

What did Paul Feig say about Bridesmaids 2?

During a recent interview with Variety, Feig confirmed that the decision to make Bridesmaids 2 is all up to writers Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo. For their work on the 2011 film, they received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. It currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 292 reviews.

“That’s up to Kristen Wiig. I would have to say. She and Annie Mumolo are the geniuses behind that,” Feig said.

Star Rose Byrne also had a similar Bridesmaids 2 update, although it wasn’t as positive.

“The reunion is tonight, this is it,” Byrne said via Elle. “It is up to Kristin. I don’t think it’s on the cards.”

The first Bridesmaids movie was directed by Feig, with Knocked Up director Judd Apatow serving as a producer. The ensemble cast included Wiig as Annie Walker, Maya Rudolph as Lillian Donovan, Rose Byrne as Helen Harris III, Melissa McCarthy as Megan Price, Wendi McLendon-Covey as Rita, Ellie Kemper as Becca, Chris O’Dowd as Officer Nathan Rhodes, Rebel Wilson as Brynn, Terry Crews as Rodney, Jon Hamm as Ted, and more. For her standout performance in the movie, McCarthy received her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

“In the film, Annie is a single woman whose own life is a mess, but when she learns that her lifelong best friend, Lillian, is engaged, she has no choice but to serve as the maid of honor. Though lovelorn and almost penniless, Annie, nevertheless, winds her way through the strange and expensive rituals associated with her job as the bride’s go-to gal. Determined to make things perfect, she gamely leads Lillian and the other bridesmaids down the wild road to the wedding,” reads the synopsis.
