Sinners Is the Fan-Favorite To Win This Major Oscars Honor

In the build-up to the 98th Academy Awards, cinephiles have weighed in on the movie they think has the highest chance of securing victory in the Best Picture category. According to a recent fan poll, moviegoers have deemed the Michael B. Jordan-led Sinners the frontrunner to walk away with the Best Picture title at the 2026 Oscars.

Fans think Sinners will win Best Picture at 2026 Oscars

A freshly published survey has revealed the US public’s stance on the feature-length outing that is most likely to reign supreme at the upcoming Academy Awards.

Sinners has unsurprisingly garnered the most votes in the poll by YouGov, with 19% of the 1,090 participating citizens saying that the vampire flick should win the Best Picture award.

When asked to name the most probable winner of the category, instead of stating their preferences, 17% said that Sinners will come out on top. Meanwhile, the Guillermo del Toro-helmed Frankenstein emerged as the second-favorite among fans, with 7% noting that the horror movie should win Best Picture, with 6% actually backing it to go the distance.

Brad Pitt-led F1 garnered a similar response, with 6% wanting the sports drama to clinch victory and 5% stating that it will beat all the other nominees.

Moreover, Leonardo DiCaprio’s film One Battle after Another proved to be an outlier in the Oscars fan poll, as only 4% described it as a deserving Best Picture winner, but 7% agreed that it would nab the prize.

Only 28% of the participants claimed to have seen Sinners, while 24% said that even though they hadn’t watched the movie, they intend to do so in the near future. Nevertheless, of the people who had witnessed the Ryan Coogler feature, 56% ‘loved’ the movie, 36% ‘liked’ it, 7% ‘disliked’ it, and only 1% ‘hated’ it.

Notably, despite the goodwill around Sinners and the other contenders, not many people plan to watch the 2026 Oscars. 42% have revealed that they are “not at all interested” in catching the ceremony live. However, 10% admitted that they are “very interested” in witnessing the event, with 26% saying that they are “somewhat interested.”
