Zack Snyder recently shared a new image of Darkseid while revisiting characters connected to Zack Snyder’s Justice League ahead of the film’s March 18 anniversary. In the post, Snyder wrote, “The great villain of the DC Universe is Darkseid. Across all DC live-action films, his only appearance is in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” The message accompanied an image of the character.
The Instagram post arrives during a series of updates where Snyder has been highlighting elements tied to his Justice League plans. In recent days he has also shared images referencing Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart. These posts have focused on characters associated with the storyline he previously developed for the film series.
Darkseid appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League as a major antagonist linked to Earth’s history and the search for the Anti-Life Equation. The film shows the character in flashback sequences during an ancient battle. The conflict involves the forces of Apokolips fighting a coalition of Earth’s defenders that includes Atlanteans, Amazons, and humans.
In the film’s narrative, Darkseid leads the forces of Apokolips. His lieutenant Steppenwolf attempts to conquer Earth using the Mother Boxes. The story shows Darkseid monitoring Steppenwolf’s mission while remaining on Apokolips.
Earlier plans for Snyder’s Justice League storyline positioned Darkseid as a central antagonist in future sequels. The proposed story for Justice League 2 and Justice League 3 would have expanded the conflict between Earth’s heroes and Apokolips. These films were intended to continue plot threads introduced in the first movie.
