Florence Pugh Reveals the 1 Movie She Regrets Doing

Even Academy Award-nominated actresses have regrets. Florence Pugh is one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars, who has starred in everything from blockbusters and Marvel projects to critically acclaimed dramas and horrors. Even with all that success, Pugh wishes she could take back one movie role.

What is the movie Florence Pugh regrets doing?

Pugh recently appeared on The Louis Theroux podcast, where she talked about her extensive career. Theroux spoke about watching some of Pugh’s movies to prepare for the interviews. One of the projects he watched was Malevolent, a 2018 supernatural horror film.

“You’re really good in it,” Theroux told Pugh about her performance in Malevolent. “It’s not bad.”

Surprisingly, Pugh has never seen the film. In fact, she regrets starring in it.

“It’s probably the one movie that I wish I never did,” Pugh said. “I think everybody has one of those movies. I think it was just a movie that I did when I was younger, and I needed money. And I was like, ‘Well, obviously this is great.’ And then I got there, and it wasn’t great.”

In Malevolent, Pugh and Ben Lloyd-Hughes star as siblings Angela and Jackson Sayers. The duo are scam artists who convince grieving clients that Angela is a medium who can contact the dead. Angela’s sense of reality is threatened after encountering paranormal forces at a haunted orphanage.

Olaf de Fleur directed Malevolent from a screenplay by Ben Ketai and Eva Konstantopoulos. The horror movie is based on Konstantopoulos’s 2011 novel Hush.

Released on Netflix in October 2018, Malevolent received mixed reviews and holds a 54% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Pugh is scheduled to have a trio of projects premiere in 2026. Pugh will reprise her role as Yelena Belova in Avengers: Doomsday and as Princess Irulan in Dune: Part Three. Both movies open on December 18, 2026.

Pugh is also the star of East of Eden, an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel of the same name. East of Eden will stream on Netflix as a limited series. Filming wrapped in 2025, which means a 2026 release is likely.
